Caveman World: Mountains Of Unga Bunga. Well, you've been kinda fun, and kinda torture.

While I have joined the 2.6% of players who have actually finished this game, and also got all achievements, it's not that impressive when you realise thay only 6.2% of players have achieved the easiest trophy of collecting 100 items, something that can be gained around level 3, of 27.

It's a physics based side scrolling platformer. There is not combat, despite having an "attack" button, but dinosaurs and big nasty bugs can hurt you, but the biggest enemy in this entire game is the physics. Rolling items like eggs and big stone wheels (?) is infuriating, but pulling off some of the gymnastics they expect you to do with the logs is near impossible.

However its being a fun couple of hours (7? I spent 7 hours on this, jees, although some of those was just sat Idle while I tried to accomplish anything else) I am glad it is over. Another freebie I'll be forgetting about. Still much better than Battle Simulator: Counter Stickman.

Ok, I'm going to leave the low quality free stuff for now and go back to Fallout Tactics.

As The Pub Landlord Al Murray put it... It's been a year!

So today marks the 1 year anniversary of my Backlog journey. So how's it going?  I have knocked out 55 Steam games I had never finished before, and nearly all of them I had never played before. I have failed to get through 25, most of which need kernel level anti cheat or a third party account, which is outlined as a no no in the completely arbitrary rules I set myself. I have covered off a lot of games I have already played on other platforms, such as Assassins Creed Odyssey, the Bioshock, Dead Space, Prototype and Dead Island games, as well as replaying the entire Half Life series because I had lost my save data. Half Life Blue Shift: shifted to the back of my mind

After Golden Light it was time to move onto an old favourite, the Half-Life series. Now I have played all the Half-Life games before, many moons ago, and do not have any save files to show for it. Also, after HL2, Ep1 and Ep2 were all merged together on the store, I need to redo it really anyway. I played the 1, and the source version back in September 2024, back to back, as I was intending to run through them all. And it was actually those playthroughs that got me thinking about clearing my backlog, it just took a few months for me to start. I decided to play Blue Shift first and as that is roughly about 3 hours, it did not take the evening to get it completed. Well done Barney, see you in a few hours. Time to move onto Opposing Force.

Closing 1 Valve to open another... Portal 2 attempts to teleport me away from boredom

Yep, I dropped 1 Valve game just to pick up another, Portal 2. However, Portal 2 is a game I have played and loved before, when it originally came out on Xbox 360, I even completed the CoOp stuff with my son back in the day. This was going to be an easy win. With Stephen Merchant and J K Simmons urging me on, how could I not enjoy this puzzle fest. More flying through the air at ridiculous speed from insane heights just to land firmly on my feet without injury, what did they do to me in stasis? Throw in some ground up moon rocks and weird goo, and I'm bouncing, sprinting and teleporting my way to reinforce the idea that even the most intelligent AI is stupid. Now, Wheatley is having fun with his friends in space ("in space!!!") and GladOS has come to the realisation that keeping me around is dangerous to her health, I am once again free to pick what I can use to distract myself from the fact that I may be the only human left on the planet.
