Just Move... on from these games. Fall Dungeon and Clean City

OK, so I am going to bundle Just Move: Fall Dungeon Endless Abyss and Just Move: Clean City Messy Battle together. Mainly because neither of them deserve dedicated time on their own.

From the offset it was pretty obvious these were better suited as mobile free games and I was only going to dedicate a night to them.

The only control you have is movement, only the left controller stick does anything. Shooting and aiming is automatic. There is very little skill involved and on the only difficult levels, luck is primarily the deciding factor on whether you win or not. Most of what movement is involved turns these games into a "walking in circles" simulator.

They both share the same interface and "loadout" screens, which are the only times you use anything other than the left stick.

Fall Dungeon Endless is not an endless abyss, there are 32 levels. Appears to be inspired by quake in that it is medieval themed with guns. The deciding factor in the levels is whether you survive the first 10 seconds, then it is just easy. I did stop without completing the last level, because it is just completely luck based and appears to be worse on a better machine, more enemies can attack at ones which makes this impossible on my 5950x 9700xt build machine. Even with my specs, at one point in level 3-5 the framerate dipped to 2 FPS because of all the active sprites firing at me. But even then it bugs out and you can walk right up to an enemy and they will not react if there are too many already following you.

Clean City is just indeed a messy battle. Considerably longer than Fall Dungeon but just boring made it to 7-9 before calling it a night. This does have some more skill involved once you get to "world" 7 as you need to manage the ricochet snipers, but beyond that it is just again a walking simulator, circles are not necessarily required here though.

Now, these are nowhere near as bad as Battle Simulator: Counter Stickman, but they are not much better.

I am going to forget about these and move on with my life. Next is a series I had been planning on playing since my early Xbox 360 days, Kain And Lynch. Starting off with the first one Dead Men.

Half Life Blue Shift: shifted to the back of my mind

After Golden Light it was time to move onto an old favourite, the Half-Life series. Now I have played all the Half-Life games before, many moons ago, and do not have any save files to show for it. Also, after HL2, Ep1 and Ep2 were all merged together on the store, I need to redo it really anyway. I played the 1, and the source version back in September 2024, back to back, as I was intending to run through them all. And it was actually those playthroughs that got me thinking about clearing my backlog, it just took a few months for me to start. I decided to play Blue Shift first and as that is roughly about 3 hours, it did not take the evening to get it completed. Well done Barney, see you in a few hours. Time to move onto Opposing Force.

Closing 1 Valve to open another... Portal 2 attempts to teleport me away from boredom

Yep, I dropped 1 Valve game just to pick up another, Portal 2. However, Portal 2 is a game I have played and loved before, when it originally came out on Xbox 360, I even completed the CoOp stuff with my son back in the day. This was going to be an easy win. With Stephen Merchant and J K Simmons urging me on, how could I not enjoy this puzzle fest. More flying through the air at ridiculous speed from insane heights just to land firmly on my feet without injury, what did they do to me in stasis? Throw in some ground up moon rocks and weird goo, and I'm bouncing, sprinting and teleporting my way to reinforce the idea that even the most intelligent AI is stupid.
